This is a projects-centered role focused on process improvement in a fast-paced, complex manufacturing environment. Many types of manufacturing exist here; core amongst these are machining, forging, painting, assembly, and heat treatment. Competencies required of the candidate include good critical and out-of-the-box thinking abilities, a hands-on approach to problems and processes, good attention to detail, quick learning, and the employment of excellent time-management practices. In this role, the candidate should expect to lead significant capital, lean/six-sigma, and process improvement projects. This includes managing the project’s budget, developing and driving action-items necessary to achieve the project’s goals, coordinating necessary resources (both internal and external), and taking lead on all other aspects of the project. Lastly, the candidate must be able to effectively report on their project(s) status and financial impact to management team. Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Support, mentor, develop, lead, and act as a role model for entry-level Manufacturing Engineers on projects, tasks, initiatives, and personal improvements. Assistance in the development and maintenance of action items lists and project plans. Assistance in the development of fundamental time and project management techniques. Facilitation of developing project-centered skills such as Root-cause analysis, team report-outs, presentations, and basic shop-floor improvement projects. Define and maintain a project pipeline of future opportunities for the business. This includes productivity improvement projects, cost-down initiatives, quality improvement projects, and safety projects. Examples include lean/Kaizen initiatives, capital investments, six sigma projects, root-cause analysis, project management, and time management. Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams of engineers, area managers/supervisors, programmers, and shop-floor personnel in both tactical and strategic continuous improvement projects. Types of projects and skills that will need deployment include: Lean/Kaizen and 5S projects, Implementation of key concepts such as Kanban, SMED, standard work, scheduled work-flow, Value Stream Maps, etc., Six Sigma, Capital Project Management. Support the plant through the performance of: Creation and management of bills of materials and manufacturing routings. Management of CNC Programs for use in both Tooling and Fitting manufacture. Creation and management of manufacturing Work Instructions (DWIs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Creation and revision of forging dies, CNC tooling, CNC holding fixtures, and custom gages. Creation and revision of low-level drawings to support multi-set up operations. Management of the Statistical Process Control system in use by shop-floor personnel.
