About the Role Delta Electronics is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented

Medium Voltage Power Engineer

to support the pre-sales engineering and design process for

utility-scale microgrids

integrating

natural gas generators ,

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) , and

Photovoltaic (PV)

technologies. This position is responsible for developing and defining medium voltage (MV) equipment specifications, including transformers, switchgear, protection devices, and power cables, from the MV line to the distributed energy system.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with sales and system engineering teams to understand customer requirements and develop optimized technical solutions.

Lead the preparation of technical proposals for microgrid projects incorporating BESS, PV, and generator systems—covering architecture design, equipment selection, and performance modeling.

Specify and design MV electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, protection systems, and associated components.

Engage with key suppliers and partners to develop customized skidded solutions integrating medium voltage components.

Assess grid interconnection requirements and ensure full compliance with utility and industry standards (e.g., IEEE 1547, UL 1741).

Develop preliminary single-line diagrams (SLDs), equipment layouts, and system configurations for large-scale projects.

Perform electrical load calculations, protection coordination, and equipment sizing for MV systems (12kV–69kV).

Coordinate with global R&D teams to align proposed system designs with product capabilities and roadmap.

Provide technical support during system commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization—both onsite and remotely.

Prepare comprehensive responses to RFPs/RFQs with detailed and accurate technical documentation.

Participate in customer presentations and meetings to explain system capabilities, architecture, and value propositions.

Deliver market and application insights to product teams, including customer requirements, emerging technologies, and competitive intelligence.

Support electrical modeling, grid impact assessments, and system performance analysis under various operational conditions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline.

Minimum of 3 years of experience working with utility-scale medium voltage systems (12kV–69kV).

Ability to travel up to 20%.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong communication skills and experience in customer-facing technical roles.

Working knowledge of relevant standards: UL9540, UL1741, IEEE 1547, IEEE C57, IEEE C37, NFPA 855, NFPA 70 (NEC), and related codes.

Experience with hybrid systems (PV + BESS + Genset) and advanced microgrid configurations.

Proficiency with design and analysis tools such as AutoCAD, ETAP, PSS/E, or equivalent platforms.

Familiarity with power quality monitoring, protection relays, and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Modbus/TCP, DNP3, IEC 61850).

Experience performing electrical studies and system modeling using tools such as ETAP or SKM.
