About the Role
The Manufacturing Quality Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing quality systems within a precision manufacturing and metal fabrication environment. This position is responsible for driving quality assurance practices, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 standards, and implementing root cause analysis and corrective actions to resolve quality issues. The role also supports production teams, supplier quality management, and continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities:
Develop and implement quality assurance procedures to support ISO 9001 compliance and customer-specific requirements
Monitor production processes and conduct inspections to detect defects and ensure product quality
Lead root cause analysis investigations using 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone methodologies
Analyze quality metrics and generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends
Collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to resolve quality-related issues
Prepare documentation and support internal and external audits
Manage non-conformance reports and coordinate corrective actions with suppliers and internal stakeholders
Maintain calibration schedules for inspection tools and ensure measurement accuracy
Conduct process capability studies and support continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing operations
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline
Minimum of 3 years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and quality management systems (QMS)
Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and measurement system analysis (MSA)
Experience with corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Effective written and verbal communication abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality analysis tools such as Minitab
Desired Qualifications:
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) from ASQ
Experience with metal fabrication processes and welding operations
Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and precision measurement tools
Knowledge of advanced product quality planning (APQP), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and production part approval process (PPAP)
Experience working with ERP systems and integrated quality management modules
