Overview
Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for our home office in Duluth, MN, or one of our offices in Omaha, NE, Houston, TX, or Pittsburgh, PA. This role is part of our growing Power Engineering practice. What You’ll Do
Lead moderate to large sized projects, making technical recommendations and decisions on complex issues. Provide leadership and guidance to the electrical engineering team, mentoring staff and growing technical expertise in the power discipline. Work with project teams to create design documents and drawings, including power and controls drawings, reports, calculations, and associated documentation. Interface with electrical utility providers to design service interconnects. Develop specifications for procurement, installation, and testing of electrical equipment. Oversee design reviews, perform engineering calculations, studies, reports, and field investigations. Apply electrical engineering software (SKM, ETAP, etc.) for modeling and analysis. Communicate and coordinate project activities with project management, customer representatives, and stakeholders. Manage project scope changes, identify risks, and develop contingency plans. Frequently interact with clients, vendors, and contractors to build confidence in LSC’s technical solutions. Recognize business development opportunities and contribute to proposal writing, cost estimates, and client presentations. What We’re Looking For
Education & Credentials
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering. Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Experience
10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience. Proven technical leadership with experience mentoring teams. Industrial electrical control system and/or power system design experience strongly preferred. Experience with high, medium, and low voltage power systems, protective relay schemes, switchgear, MCCs, drives, and power distribution equipment is desired. Substation design experience a plus. Direct experience with industrial facilities and energy industry projects (Oil & Gas, Renewables, Distributed Power). Familiarity with codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 70E, API, AGA). Field experience supporting projects during construction is an advantage. Technical Skills
Experience with design of control systems, PLCs, SCADA, instrumentation, and network architectures preferred. Proficiency with SKM, ETAP, or other electrical analysis software. Knowledge of electrical area classification (hazardous areas). Personal Competencies
Strong communication, presentation, and follow-up skills. Ability to build client confidence through technical expertise and relationship-building. Highly organized, with the ability to prioritize workload for yourself and others. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Collaborative mindset, with a willingness to mentor and learn. Lake Superior Consulting offers a competitive compensation package. The anticipated salary range for this position is $120,000- $160,000 per year, with starting salary determined based on skills, experience, and location.
