The CFD modeling function is an important function of the Swanson Rink Mechanical Design Process. Swanson Rink is looking for an experienced mechanical CFD engineer who wants to couple their passion for building design with the analysis of CFD modeling to ensure our projects meet client requirements.

As part of our mechanical engineering solutions, Swanson Rink uses computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis to robustly calculate worst case scenarios and optimize design. These include predictions of airflow and thermal gradients within the indoor space, as well as assessing potential impacts on outdoor equipment of local weather data including wind velocity profiles and direction, solar heat gain, and psychrometric functions in the outdoor space.

Responsibilities

Perform exterior CFD modeling of datacenter building site conditions

CAD/CFD model generation, execution, and analysis

Viscous, thermal, and species transport analysis

Perform interior CFD modeling of data centers

Temperature, pressure, and air flow distribution

Datacenter equipment modeling (racks, CRACs, ventilation, etc)

Understand and develop best engineering practices and assist other engineers in troubleshooting and optimizing CFD models

Assist in developing new modeling techniques for various fluid-dynamic and aerodynamic applications

Provide recommendations and propose design solutions based on CFD analysis

Assist software development/integration efforts involving CAD/Simulation/Visualization

Convey complex technical information in an understandable manner

Establish and maintain fluency in CFD modeling and simulation software

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET-accredited four-year college or university.

Certification as an EI/EIT required, PE License preferred.

2-3 years of CFD application experience on commercial projects.

A strong understanding of CFD processes and numerical analysis.

Experience with Ansys Fluent or other CFD software (e.g., Cadence, STAR CCM).

Software development and programming experience (C++/C#, Python, scripting).

CAD Expertise (Spaceclaim, Discovery, Autocad, Autodesk Revit).

Office software proficiency (MS Word, Excel)

Requires the ability to pass background checks, security screenings or drug testing as required by our clients and/or Federal contracts.

Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary range of $100,000 - $120,000 and will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
