Construction Project Estimator to support the preconstruction team by developing accurate estimates across a diverse range of commercial construction projects. The Project Estimator will work with senior estimators and preconstruction managers to quantify scope, analyze documents, and interact with subcontractors and vendors throughout the preconstruction process. This role involves exposure to conceptual estimating and competitive bid environments with growth opportunities to become a subject matter expert. Responsibilities

Support the development of design-phase estimates (concept, schematic, design development, and construction document-level pricing). Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs across multiple CSI divisions. Assist in bid packages and participate in competitive lump-sum bids (document management, invitations to bid, front-end requirements, bid forms, RFIs, subcontractor bid analysis). Collaborate with the project team to ensure scopes align with drawings, specs, and project goals. Identify scope gaps or design omissions and flag potential cost, scope, or schedule risks. Collaborate with teams to create and validate preliminary General Conditions based on project type and scale. Assist with estimate clarifications, assumption narratives, and deviation reports. Review progress drawings and specifications for constructability and completeness. Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain and validate pricing, product availability, and unit costs. Attend meetings to present estimate data and discuss budget alignment and value opportunities. Contribute to scope definition in conceptual estimates, including line-item breakdowns for full project coverage. Maintain clear estimate formatting, documentation, and audit trails. Communicate cost updates and deliverables with internal teams, owners, architects, and engineers. Attend community, professional, and company events. Other related duties as assigned. Skills and Abilities

Strong working knowledge of at least 4 CSI Divisions; willingness to expand expertise. Knowledge of construction assemblies and building systems (civil/sitework, foundations, structural systems, exterior enclosures, roofing, interior finishes, divisions 10–14, and basic MEP understanding). Ability to interpret and review plans and specifications clearly. Familiarity with estimating software and tools (OST, Bluebeam, Excel, Office Suite). Strong time management and organizational skills; able to meet deadlines. Self-motivated; able to work independently and within a team. Good communication skills; comfortable in project team meetings. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field preferred (or equivalent industry experience). 5+ years of estimating experience in general contracting or construction management preferred. Experience with commercial project types (interior fit-outs, ground-up, healthcare, education, corporate, multi-family) is a plus. Why Higley Construction?
