Overview
Energy & Utilities Analyst, Electrical Engineer - 1898 & Co. (Phoenix) The Energy & Utilities Analyst will work under the supervision of a consultant or project manager to assist with developing solutions to technical and economic challenges encountered by our energy and utility clients. The role includes power system studies that evaluate power plants (fossil fuel and renewable) and delivery systems (transmission and distribution), and may involve power supply planning, due diligence, performance and benchmarking evaluations, site assessments, investment planning, condition assessments, financial cost/benefit evaluations, and renewable development. Responsibilities
Analyze, interpret, and apply engineering, financial, and economic conditions, theories, and principles to complete tasks related to technical and business implications for client projects. Apply knowledge of engineering and financial concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the consulting services industry. Help analyze life-cycle costs by developing technical assumptions for capital costs, O&M costs, performance estimates, and economic forecasts. Assist with technical assessments that evaluate impacts of regulatory agency rules. Assist with designing, reviewing, and modifying drawings for project requirements as set by project managers. Support power system planning and operations analysis, including power flow, transient, stability, short circuit, electromagnetic transients, reliability, and economic dispatch. Perform technical, engineering, economic, and financial studies for utility project planning and operations. Support transmission/distribution study analysis using power system software. Support engineering and economic assessments for fossil and/or renewable generation. Support technical and business-related risk assessments. Assist with detailed financial analysis using computer-based software. Help develop technical reports and presentations summarizing analysis results. Assist in preparing client presentations, engineering reviews, financial analyses, and contract administration for design and planning of utility systems. Support Utility Consulting business lines as required by clients. Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards. Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Accounting or related field from an accredited program required. Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering strongly preferred. Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred. Involvement in campus or community activities preferred. Basic knowledge of standard engineering techniques, principles, and procedures. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment with strong critical thinking skills. Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite). Strong attention to detail, facilitation, teamwork, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated leadership skills.
