Overview
Evergreen Innovation Group, part of the DPR Family of Companies, is seeking an
Electrical Estimator
with at least 5 years of experience on commercial construction projects. This role is required to be in person at our
Abilene, TX
location and reports to the Dallas, TX office. Estimators will work primarily on negotiated electrical commercial projects within our core markets: healthcare, higher education, advanced technology, life sciences, and commercial. They will work closely with architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors to make a significant impact on the success of the company and delivering on our mission. Responsibilities
Demonstrates understanding and enthusiastic agreement with the vision and mission of EIG. Take the project from first estimate through project handoff. Ask the right questions and provide a complete project cost evaluation. Collaborate with customers, empowering and informing them throughout the project. Provide innovative solutions to complex issues related to cost, lead-times, trade partners, and materials. Make reliable cost predictions and estimate across all scopes of work. Prepare detailed conceptual cost estimates and studies from schematic and feasibility documentation. As the design evolves, develop variance summaries between estimates and value engineering studies. Assemble a complete presentation that communicates project cost clearly. Collaborate with the project team to establish staffing and project requirements. Understand unit costs and factors that affect construction cost. Prepare detailed bidding instructions, trade clarifications, and comprehensive bid packages. Participate in the bidding process: solicit bids, communicate with bidders, evaluate subcontractor proposals, and use bid tally sheets. Make subcontractor award recommendations and negotiate/finalize subcontracts with trade partners. Lead and participate in cost and budget presentations to customers/owners. Contribute to RFP responses and formal project presentations as part of the team. Engage with new and existing customers to develop business. Actively participate in Value Engineering sessions with the project and design teams. Required Skills And Abilities
Flexible, detail-oriented team player who can manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills. Creative and innovative project-by-project thinking. Ability to identify, adapt to, and resolve complex issues. Effective participation in a team environment, with internal and external teammates. Proficient in Microsoft Office, estimating software (WinEst, Timberline or similar), take-off software (Accubid LiveCount or similar), BIM tools (Revit, Assemble, etc.), project management software (CMiC or similar), and scheduling software (Primavera or similar). Education And Experience
5+ years of experience in Electrical Commercial Construction as an Estimator, preferably within DPR core markets. Bachelor’s degree is a plus but not required. Field experience is a plus but not required. Experience with Design/Build and Design/Assist projects is a plus. Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Travel to and from the office as well as assigned job sites.
