Overview
PDS 2 / Power Delivery Substation — Mesa Associates, Inc. seeks a Substation P&C Electrical Engineer to assist our team with the development of design packages for 12 kV–500 kV. The successful candidate will work with a team to complete substation P&C design projects to meet client standards and practices. They will be responsible for maintaining quality and staying within budget while developing deliverables such as: One-Line Diagrams, AC & DC Schematics, Panel Layouts, Wiring Diagrams, Cable Lists, and Bills of Materials. They must have a good understanding of how substations work.
Responsibilities
On a task basis, is responsible for preparing and completing discipline engineering designs and supporting documentation such as AC & DC Studies, conduit fill, voltage drop, and/or lightning protection and grounding analysis.
Coordinates, prepares, and checks calculations, specifications, reports, design details, plans, and drawings within assigned task areas.
Helps check the work of project team members as assigned.
Interfaces with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects as required.
Responsible for adhering to project scope, schedule, and budget on all assigned projects.
Performs other duties assigned by Principal Engineers or the Engineering Manager.
Establish, promote, and assure quality on all project work.
Work with the Project Engineer or Project Manager to follow up on construction issues with field engineers to help resolve problems and concerns promptly.
Attend group meetings with staff as required.
Incorporates safe work practices into all activities.
Work with the Project Engineer and team to assist with project execution, work processes, and procedures to help continually improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.
Use good verbal and written communication skills with team members and clients.
Use good interpersonal skills to build relationships with team members and clients.
Possess knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD or MicroStation.
Registration as a Professional Engineer is desirable for this position.
