Job Summary

Operate and maintain boilers and supporting equipment associated with the central steam heating and chilled water systems. May be assigned responsibility for full plant operations on a limited basis. This position will interact on a consistent basis with co-workers, vendors, suppliers, contractor personnel, engineers, and environmental health and safety personnel. This position will advise and counsel: NA. This position will supervise: NA. Responsibilities

Operate and maintain components of boilers, hot domestic water, condensate systems, chiller, cooling tower and distribution systems including pressure vessels, pumps, motors, piping, valves, strainers and/or controls. Operate and maintain components of control system including electrical, pneumatic and/or DDC controls. Test and troubleshoot components of natural gas and/or propane burner and supply systems including burners, pumps, piping, valves, filters and controls. May make purchases of materials and supplies required in operation and maintenance efforts. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma Required Experience Three to four years of job related experience Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications Advanced boiler operator or inspector license, formal training program completion in related field, universal CFC Refrigerant Recovery License or other more advanced State of Georgia HVAC License. Preferred skills include ability to operate and maintain building systems, machine tools, maintenance equipment, motor vehicles, hand/power tools, electrical/electronic instrumentation and light equipment. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS This job requires master level skills in operation, cleaning, inspecting, adjusting, repairing, replacing, calibrating, testing and troubleshooting steam generating and distribution system. Journeyman level skills for same activities in chillers and support systems. Working knowledge of computers, controls, electrical systems, utility services, reading drawings and specifications, general construction practices, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting practices.
