Zachry Group is currently accepting applications for
Pipe Stress Engineers
for our design center in
Charlotte, NC . The Piping Engineer will be responsible for performing pipe stress analysis according to applicable ASME codes and standards (B31.1 and B31.3); utilizing pipe stress software; evaluating stress results, displacements, and pipe support loads; designing and selecting supports, spring hangers, and expansion joints; and preparing calculations and datasheets. Responsibilities
Complete project objectives on schedule and budget Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and reports Participate in design reviews and engineering meetings Analyze data on existing equipment and provide comparisons Document project details per quality management processes Develop and test design models for feasibility and modifications Specify system components ensuring conformance with design and performance standards Apply standard engineering techniques with judgment for minor adaptations Review and check isometric and support designs Produce pipe stress analysis reports Communicate with internal teams and clients as needed Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, chemical, or petroleum engineering 10+ years of experience in power, petrochemical, or construction projects 5-10 years of experience with pipe stress analysis software (CAESAR II, Autopipe) Knowledge of ASME B31.1, B31.3, API codes Understanding of pipe and valve specifications and materials Design knowledge of pipe supports and flexibility analysis Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills Proficiency in engineering software and Microsoft Office Ability to organize and prioritize work independently Willingness to travel and work in various environments Preferred Requirements
Licensed Professional Engineer Experience in power plant design Physical Demands & Work Environment
Includes communication, manual tasks, lifting, and working in various environments including construction sites with moderate to high noise levels.
