Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer
The Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer is responsible for managing client projects and for assuring high quality and timely completion of engineering designs and reports. The Senior I&C Engineer should be comfortable interfacing with clients, visiting clients’ facilities and performing physical work such as walking, stooping, kneeling and climbing stairs/ladders. Key responsibilities include technical calculations and preparation of I&C deliverables.
Responsibilities
Collection and presentation of key data/information
Instrument technical specifications and ISA data sheets
Instrument installation details
Instrument location plans
Control wiring and loop diagrams
P&IDs in regard to instrument and control philosophy
I/O requirements for DCS and PLC systems
Review of vendor drawing submittals
Technical calculations (e.g. control valve sizing)
Technical evaluation of bids
Assistance in field work
Support of construction and startup/commissioning activities
Qualifications
5+ years of engineering experience
Experience in refinery or a continuous process chemical plant is a plus
P&ID understanding
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Familiarity with typical I&C drawings (Loops, Cabinet Layout/Wiring etc.)
Working knowledge of process field instrumentation
Project lead experience developing engineering schedules, budgets and forecasts
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively in teams and to present a positive image to clients
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and 3-D CAD a plus
Engineering design tools and calculations
Knowledge of Industry Standards (ISA, PSM, etc.)
Education/Certification Requirements
BS Degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering
Advanced degree, and/or P.E. certification a plus
Active participation in professional organizations a plus
