Field Service Engineer
(FSE) – entry level role connecting KB Signaling customers to technical support for KB Signaling products in the USA and Canada across transit, short-line, and class-one railroads. Responsibilities
Serve customers in the USA and Canada regions by connecting internal/external customers to technical support experts for KB Signaling products. Work directly with Product Solution Engineers, Product Managers, Account Executives, Customer Service, and Manufacturing to resolve technical product issues and answer product-related questions via calls and emails. Travel to customer sites to support field issues, including troubleshooting, installation support, training, and repairs (average travel of 30%). Provide technical instruction and assistance over the phone and in person regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance of railroad equipment at customer sites. Perform on-site installation and maintenance support for railroad signaling equipment and systems (setup, calibration, operational verification, troubleshooting, and repair). Troubleshoot railroad signaling equipment and systems using fundamental engineering principles and knowledge of the product line. Respond to emergency troubleshooting and issue resolution needs during normal and non-normal business hours depending on rotational assignments. Maintain knowledge of product line warranties and technical bulletins, and advise customers accordingly. Plan, prepare, and/or execute internal and external training programs to impart product and signaling knowledge. Develop and expand personal technical knowledge of railroad signaling equipment (new and legacy) and applicable engineering principles to resolve customer issues. Perform administrative tasks (technical reports, lab/field material orders, vendor quotations, status/trip reports, travel bookings, shipping, expense tracking, asset organization). Operate call systems and issue tracking tools to document customer calls with pertinent information. Provide leadership and technical direction to skilled labor on customer sites. Maintain a strong safety mindset to ensure all work complies with technical and safety requirements within customer and Alstom safety standards. Qualifications
Associate in Electronics or bachelor’s degree in EE, EET, Computer Science, or Electromechanical Engineering Ability to work individually and as part of a team Aptitude and passion for solving complex technical problems Strong written, verbal, and analytical skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Flexibility in relocation Desired Characteristics
Methodical troubleshooting and problem solving Ability to work independently in a multi-site, team environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills Willingness to travel Benefits
