CDM Smith
Overview
With general direction, create designs of electric master system plans, power system, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability/renewable energy systems, and other similar electrical systems of basic to high complexity to meet client project requirements.
Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and sign off on completed designs. Perform studies of power systems and electrical calculations for electrical systems, lighting simulations, lighting layouts, communications, fire alarm, security and other similar calculations. Ensure that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs. Perform site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Update design requirements as necessary. Contribute to the firm20 9s technical knowledge management (TKM) by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc. Submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals. Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs). Review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices. Meet with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs. Attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm20 9s products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff. Responsibilities
Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Mentor more junior staff and develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm. May supervise the work of junior engineers on project work. Perform Other Duties As Required. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor20 9s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or Electrical Technology or related discipline. Professional engineering (PE) license. 7 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing power systems for water, wastewater, industrial, federal, and transit facilities. Experience designing medium and low-voltage power distribution systems. Familiar with industry and federal codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, NESC, IEEE, UFC, etc.). Experience conducting power system analysis using software such as SKM Power Tools for Windows and ETAP. Pay Range Minimum: $103,563 Pay Range Maximum: $181,230 Additional Pay Range Information: Pay ranges vary by geographic location and other factors. Additional Compensation: Bonuses are discretionary.
