The Automation Engineer is responsible for the reliability of plant control systems. They will support and execute automation projects focused on improving processes and equipment reliability. The Automation Engineer will also provide expertise and support to equipment subject matter experts, maintenance, and industrial controls technicians.
Responsibilities
Develop, troubleshoot, improve, and maintain automation systems (update schematics, functional descriptions, PLC programs, SCADAs, etc.)
Responsible for integration of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, Servo Drives, and process controls
Responsible for the standardization of control systems and control logic designs
Train end users on the operations of newly installed or modified process control systems
Manage and execute automation improvement projects
Provide technical support on control system reliability issues
Mentor and train Industrial Control Technicians
Other duties/tasks may be assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 5 years' experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
Expert utilizing Studio 5000, including advanced instructions (message routing, add on instructions, etc)
Experience programming SCADA Systems (FactoryTalk SE/ME and Ignition)
Experience with a variety of industrial networking protocols (Modbus, I/O Link, AS-i, etc…)
Ability to update electrical prints
Experience with SQL databases preferred
Expert troubleshooting and root cause analysis of control system failures
Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities
Positive and engaged with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Consumer Packaged Goods experience preferred, including working knowledge of processing and packaging systems
Ability to handle ambiguity and work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
Working conditions and physical requirements
Ability to sit/stand/walk for prolonged periods
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
Reaching/bending as necessary to service equipment
Exposure to industrial hazards (plant utility systems)
Any other physical requirements
Food safety requirements
Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety
Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas
Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company
Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system
Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system
Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected
In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required

Compensation
Base pay range: $90,000 - $130,000 USD
