Treatment Plant Operator in Training 20027933 – Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC). Pay ranges from approximately $45,000 - $55,000. Starting pay will be based on qualifications, education, experience, and location. What You’ll Do

Works under close supervision and requires working knowledge of state and federal guidelines regarding water and/or sewage treatment plant operations. Receives training in and assists in operation of water and/or sewage treatment plants, including components such as comminutors, bar screens, lift stations, primary and secondary settling, trickling filters, activated sludge, chlorination, recirculation filters, sludge digestion, high service plumbing, storage and distribution (e.g., adjusts flow patterns; cleans screening devices; transfers sludge; backwashes filters). Adds chemicals. Changes chlorinator tanks. Receives training in and assists in maintenance of equipment (e.g., lubricates moving parts, adjusts and changes packing, removes and replaces worn parts). Repairs waterline breaks, water meters, automatic controls, chemical feed equipment and other plant equipment. Assists in operation and repair of other equipment. Performs general grounds keeping and housekeeping duties. Receives training in and assists in performing daily chemical tests (e.g., alkalinity, hardness, pH, chlorine, fluoride, turbidity) and records results. Assists in maintaining treatment plant records. Assists in preparing daily and monthly reports on test results and plant inspections. Oversees and/or performs general maintenance at water and/or wastewater treatment facility (e.g., tills seed beds, mows grass, paints buildings, plows snow). Performs operational modifications necessary in emergencies to meet EPA requirements. Attends annual training, meetings and/or serves on committees. Qualifications

Formal education in arithmetic that includes fractions, decimals and percentages, and in reading, writing and speaking English; 3 months training or 3 months experience in safety practices; valid driver’s license. Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above. Job Skills
