Position Title: Engineer 2, Controls Vehicle (HIL)
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Position Summary This position is responsible for supporting the application of Electronic Controls Systems on Commercial Vehicles. This is accomplished by developing test plans that involve vehicle testing and Hardware in the Loop (HIL) simulation. Provide customer deliverable of detailed reports certifying vehicle safety, and regulatory compliance. Essential Functions
Develop and execute technical plans (analysis, simulation, vehicle test) to validate system installation and parameter tuning. Support vehicle testing and customer demos for algorithm specific development and testing. Provide technical support in troubleshooting escalated field issues. Analyze and document results from simulation experiments. Apply vehicle knowledge to improve vehicle simulation tools including both non-real time and Hardware in the Loop (HIL) simulation Benchmark competitive systems Interface with Software Developers, Systems Engineers, and customers to create and revise control system requirements. The in-depth knowledge of vehicle control algorithms and their application to commercial vehicles. Strong technical knowledge and project management knowledge and organizational skills. Must know how to build customer relationship skills. Applied knowledge of vehicle dynamics with preference in commercial vehicles In-depth knowledge of brake systems or other advanced pneumatic based control systems. Six Sigma or statistical tool usage for troubleshooting Knowledge of vehicle communications protocols such as J1939 or Power Line Communications (PLC). Familiar in the use of Matlab/Simulink, ASCET or similar control system development tools Familiar with Vector tools such as CANalyzer, CANape software as well as VN1630/40a or VX1135 hardware. Familiar with TruckSim/dSPACE ASM, vehicle model parametrization simulation. Familiar with dSPACE, ETAS or other Hardware in the Loop simulation interface hardware. Experience
2-5+ years of experience, preferably in the automotive or commercial vehicle industry Skills
Ideal candidate is able to lead a team of people to achieve project milestones or implement customer requirements. Able to handle multiple conflicting priorities and interface with sales, marketing, and engineering. Ability to work in a cross-functional team in a dynamic working environment including international team members. Familiar with product quality tools such as design and system FMEA & DVP&R Demonstrated problem-solving skills in a team environment. Ability to effectively communicate with others, within and with diverse cultures, both independently and within teams and with cross-functional teams in coordinating and prioritizing development Education
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering required. Focus on Control systems preferred. Travel & Job Requirements
