Position Summary
This is a part-time position assigned to the Student Health Center.
Under general supervision, provides direct patient care activities to the highest degree of licensure. Partners with clinical staff and providers to maintain established standards and ensure delivery of high-quality patient care; as well as Health Informatics, Medical Records, and others to ensure patient documentation is complete, accurate, and follows all privacy/security and other regulatory requirements. Reviews physicians' orders for accuracy and authorization prior to implementing them. Prescribes and initiates nursing treatment through direct or assisted care.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to perform patient care as directed by a physician, nurse practitioner, or other qualified medical professional Efficient and accurate computer and data entry skills Excellent communication, customer service, and telephone etiquette skills Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment Desire to exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy, and tact in patient/staff interactions Willingness to learn and consistently deliver patient-centered, high-quality, customer-friendly service Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of protected health information and follow FERPA/HIPAA regulations at all times Punctual and reliable. Skills include RX refills, assisting in minor procedures, in-person and telephone triage, IVs, and injections
Hourly Pay Range:
$29.52 – $35.00
Minimum Requirements
Associate's degree in Nursing required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Must have a current CPR certification or obtain one within 30 days of hire date and have used an electronic health record system in a previous learning or employed role.
Preferences
2-3 years of experience preferred.
