Overview In collaboration with the Sr. Assistant Dean of Advancement at the School of Health Sciences, the Alumni and Donor Relations Specialist supports engagement and philanthropy to benefit SHS across four campuses (Sacramento, Stockton, San Francisco and Online) and within ten SHS departments, as well as across Pacific. The position works with alumni, students, donors, volunteers, and the campus community to increase engagement and philanthropic support.

Essential Functions

Annual giving and stewardship of donors:

Lead and support annual giving efforts (e.g., Pacific Gives, direct mail, email, crowdfunding, student callers, texting, matching gifts, student philanthropy, year-end giving).

Identify, recruit, train and manage volunteers who support fundraising efforts.

Show impact of gifts by collaborating with faculty chairs, selecting and spending funds, educating chairs on fund selection to drive giving, and partnering with marketing to tell the giving story. Manage gift impact messaging for subsequent years.

Manage the stewardship process of annual gifts through letters, cards, videos, etc.

Volunteer Management

Partner with SHS departments to identify, recruit, train and manage alumni volunteers for initiatives such as alumni boards and related committees; manage alumni board budgets where they exist.

Educate programs on how to begin alumni engagement programs and boards.

Managing the scholarships process

Advise SHS business/operations, financial aid officers across campuses, and SHS scholarship leads on application, selection, announcements, and thank-you processes; ensure scholarships are credited to student accounts; steward donors; record recipients in the CRM (Raiser’s Edge).

Event Planning & Execution

Plan and execute alumni events (in-person and virtual): reunions, networking, seminars, volunteer committees, recognition ceremonies.

Collaborate with the Social Media Manager to invite, promote, remind, and follow up after events (emails, surveys, photos).

Evaluate event success and implement improvements to increase participation.

Ensure events stay within budget and deadlines.

Partnerships & Collaboration

Engage with the University’s Development/ Alumni Relations team and events team to align with university-wide strategies and best practices.

Participate in Division-wide meetings and trainings.

Data Management & Reporting

Track and report alumni and donor engagement, including communications, events, donations, and volunteer opportunities via the CRM.

Maintain and update CRM data for students in leadership volunteer roles; analyze reports to show engagement and philanthropy trends.

Ensure accurate alumni and donor contact information; coordinate data collection through surveys or other means; manage alumni data lists for communications with appropriate security.

Work Environment / Schedule

Evenings and weekends may be required; occasional local and overnight travel; valid driver’s license required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (two years of full-time experience in a similar position may be considered as one year of post-high school education).

Two years of experience in an office setting.

Intermediate experience with MS Office and CRM database programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of event planning and coordination.

Experience in annual giving and/or alumni relations or similar roles.

Ability to develop and monitor budgets and schedules; strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Positive attitude and ability to work with diverse populations; commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Experience promoting social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.

Additional Information

Salary range: $68,640 – $73,408 per year; compensation depends on qualifications, internal equity, and market considerations.
