The Accuracy Control Engineer will report to the Supervisor of Accuracy Control. The selected candidate will become an active participant in the design build community for all special projects and new programs. The candidate will also be involved in developing script programming for 3D metrology applications.

Responsibilities

Act as liaison between Accuracy Control and the design build community (operations, engineering, planning) to identify the need for accuracy control implementation, tolerance budgeting and develop high-level measurement plans

Influence the design and build sequences to optimize efficiency and performance based on historical data and lessons learned

Provide direct support to D467 Accuracy Control by identifying the need for Accuracy Control (AC) Manufacturing Engineering Documents (MEDs)

Program spatial analyzer measurement plans (MP) and scripts to be used on new and existing metrology activities. Maintain metadata, model updates and server structure for new and existing surveys and programs.

Research and development of new metrology fixture applications as well as implementation and feasibility of new technology in both Virginia and Columbia programs

Provide support and information to Manufacturing Engineering D467 to aid in MED-S, MED-H and fixture development. Review technology implementation, specifications and provide feedback to design yard.

This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI location.

Qualifications Required:

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in civil, mechanical or similar engineering field

0-5 years relevant engineering experience

Working knowledge of CAD environments, GD&T and design-build processes

Working knowledge of various 3D measurement systems used at Quonset Point including Photogrammetry, Laser Tracker, Total Stations and CMMs

Proficient in MS Office products

Willing and able to travel in support of meetings/work at other facilities

Able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance through the Department of Defense

Preferred:

Previous experience working in shipbuilding, construction or manufacturing industry

Experience within the Accuracy Control group at Quonset Point

Visual Basic, C++ or similar programming experience

Experience in coordinate measurement protocols, Siemens Teamcenter and/or NRK Spatial Analyzer

Relevant Navy/Military experience

Skills

Good verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work effectively with various levels of employees in the organization

Capable of working independently with minimal supervision

Ability to multitask to manage priorities, schedule and resources
