Responsibilities

Apply an understanding of DoD, AF, and common engineering/scientific principles, processes, and procedures to improve performance and sustainability of existing and future AF and joint service weapon systems.

Support the System Integrity Programs including Mechanical Systems Integrity Program (MECSIP), assist in maintaining and updating the Critical Safety Item (CSI) list, and monitor airworthiness certification for mission partner aircraft.

Understand and execute Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) 62-6, USAF Airworthiness, associated AFIs and Airworthiness Bulletins through standardized processes and issuance of flight authorizations.

Support project team meetings, working groups, and reviews as needed.

Assist in the development and evaluation of IMP, IMS, and Systems Engineering Detail Schedule (SEDS) engineering cost estimates.

Follow the Life Cycle Systems Engineering (LCSE) and OSS&E related AFIs and all lower‑level supplements and related documents including applicable OIs.

Participate in value stream mapping activities and Air Force Smart Operations for the 21st Century (AFSO21) program facilitation.

Assist with technical requirements compliance pertaining to avionics development, test, sustainment and operations pertaining to navigation, voice communication systems, Line of Sight (LOS) and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) data link systems, military and civilian communication networks, network protocols, Information Protection Security (IPSec), Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP)/Extensible Markup Language (XML) packaging of network commands and air data systems to include performance, integrity and airworthiness.

Assist with evaluating technical documents, determining sufficiency for demonstrating compliance with specification and airworthiness, summarizing findings, recommending changes, and communicating all results to program office.

Must possess excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills to develop and maintain working relationships with the internal and external personnel involved with the project or program.

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Skype/Lync), Adobe Acrobat, and applications for access to the world wide web including Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET‑Accredited program and fifteen (15) years of relevant experience.

Master’s degree in engineering from an ABET‑Accredited program and twelve (12) years of relevant experience.

Must have five (5) years of Government Acquisition experience.

Other Position Requirements

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency is a requirement.

Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.

Must be able to travel, including air travel.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work This is a full‑time position requiring 40 hours per week and offers a flexible work schedule Monday through Friday during core business hours.
