Field Engineer – Charleston, SC We have an immediate opening for a Field Engineer in Charleston, SC. This position will provide field engineering project support including inspection of project materials, work control guidelines for accurate measurements, and ensuring correct installation of materials. The role works closely with Project Managers, Field Supervision, and Craft on the jobsite to ensure successful project completion.
Primary Responsibilities
Support overall construction activities by planning, organizing, and implementing the project controls system, subcontracts, and managing, purchasing, and scheduling of materials.
Assist project management with items such as expediting material deliveries, monitoring project production, providing project status reports, preparing monthly billings, tracking equipment utilization, providing survey layout, and preparing shop drawings/submittals.
Ensure project safety and quality protocols are followed per company and industry standards; set a good example for worksite safety expectations.
Support the pursuit and estimating process from searching for potential projects to estimating, planning, and completing take‑off quantities for active proposals.
Perform special projects and complete all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organization.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline or equivalent work experience.
3 to 5 years of experience in the marine and heavy civil construction industry.
Knowledge of project management and administration, procurement, estimating, scheduling, project tracking software, cost control, engineering and project standards, and safety and environmental compliance (preferred).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, customers, and vendors.
GPS survey experience and capability to perform construction layout.
Must be qualified and physically able to drive.
Ability to travel and work for extended periods on projects outside of the office area.
