Our client is seeking a
Controls Engineer
to take ownership of electrical design, automation programming, and commissioning for advanced industrial equipment. You’ll be at the heart of engineering innovation. You will be designing control systems, developing PLC logic, and bringing custom automation projects to life from concept through start-up. This position offers the opportunity to work across a wide range of industries, collaborating with talented mechanical, electrical, and software teams to deliver complex, high-performance automated machinery. Projects You’ll Work On
Design and implement complete control systems, including schematics, pneumatics, and hydraulics. Create detailed electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical (E-Plan experience is a plus). Program PLCs and HMIs (Allen Bradley / Rockwell Studio 5000 or Siemens TIA Portal) to integrate robotics, sensors, motion systems, and vision technology. Define and configure I/O for PLCs and robotic systems. Remotely connect to field systems to implement program updates and troubleshoot issues. Lead on-site startup, debug, commissioning, and operator training. Mentor junior team members and contribute to establishing company-wide technical standards. Oversee project timing, budgeting, and external partner coordination for panel builds or robot programming. What Experience You Should Bring
3+ years of hands‑on experience in controls or automation engineering. Strong proficiency in
PLC programming
and
HMI development
(Allen Bradley / Siemens). Skilled in
AutoCAD Electrical ; 3D modeling (Autodesk Inventor or similar) a plus. Familiarity with
ASi
and
EtherNet/IP
communication protocols. Working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and motion control systems. A collaborative mindset and the ability to communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams including mechanical design, machine build, and project management. What to Expect
You’ll be part of a
fast‑paced, creative engineering environment , with direct access to the machine build floor. Our client’s culture values innovation, collaboration, and mentorship, ensuring you’ll feel part of a close‑knit, high‑performing team. Travel up to 20-30% for equipment installation and customer support across the U.S., with occasional trips to Canada and Mexico. (Typically in 1 week increments) Must be able to fly domestically and maintain a valid U.S. Passport. Eligible to work in ITAR‑regulated facilities. Standard 1st shift (Monday‑Friday, 40‑45 hours/week) with occasional overtime during project peaks.
