Position Overview The Forensic Engineer will conduct forensic engineering investigations of buildings and other structures to address a wide variety of structural and material failure problems, including structural damage, roof damage, moisture intrusion, interior water damage, settlement, foundation problems, construction defects, general building material failures, and storm‑related damage.

Responsibilities

Perform investigation and analysis of residential, commercial, and industrial properties to resolve claims and legal matters.

Conduct forensic engineering investigations of buildings and other structures for a wide variety of problems, including structural damage, roof damage, moisture intrusion, interior water damage, settlement, foundation problems, construction defects, general building material failures, and storm‑related damage.

Apply expertise in identifying the cause and origin of water damage and establishing duration to pinpoint the cause and origin of failure.

Lead field investigations to determine the cause and origin of construction defects or structural failures, building envelope failures, extent of damage, and repairability.

Manage multiple projects, coordinating with other experts and supporting as needed to produce client reports promptly.

Prepare reports documenting causes of failure and/or damage.

Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).

Minimum of 1 year of Forensic Structural Engineering experience required.

Active PE license required.

Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification) required.

Expertise in structural analysis software, BIM/CAD platforms, and building materials.

Deep understanding of local, state, and national building codes and design standards.

Strong client‑facing skills and ability to lead cross‑functional project teams.

Proven ability to manage complexity, mentor others, and deliver technically sound solutions.

Travel Requirements

Moderate travel up to 40% of the time to support business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Primary office environment with extended desk periods and standard office equipment.

Regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders via email, phone, and virtual/ in‑person platforms.

Occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds.
