Base pay range $70,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr

Overview As a Permanent Weld Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our engineering team, responsible for the development, implementation and improvement of welding processes. This role requires an individual with a strong background in welding engineering, a keen eye for detail, and an unwavering commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize welding processes, procedures, and equipment.

Collaborate with design engineers to review product designs and make recommendations to ensure weldability.

Provide technical support in the areas of welding, fabrication, and testing.

Develop welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles.

Conduct research and development investigations to develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures, improve existing or develop new welding equipment, develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures, discover new patterns of welding phenomena, or to correlate and substantiate hypotheses.

Prepare technical reports as a result of research and development and preventive maintenance investigations.

Establish welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre- and post-heating requirements that involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex post-heating requirements.

Evaluate new developments in the welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production processes.

Direct and coordinate technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure workers' compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards; in testing welds for conformance with national code requirements; or testing welding personnel for certification.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in a welding engineering role.

Professional certification in welding (e.g., Certified Welding Engineer) is preferred.

Proficient in weldments, weld symbols, and weld procedures.

Extensive knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and equipment.

Strong understanding of metallurgy and material properties.

Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Familiarity with industry safety standards and regulations.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
