Job Summary
We are seeking a licensed Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) with extensive experience in fire sprinkler
system design and installation to lead and manage our Sprinkler Installation Division. This role combines
technical expertise in fire protection engineering with leadership and operational oversight
responsibilities. The ideal candidate will drive quality design, ensure compliance, manage field
operations, and develop strategic initiatives to grow the division.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Design:
Perform design, hydraulic calculations, and code analysis for fire sprinkler systems in accordance
with NFPA standards, local codes, and project specifications.
Approve or review in-house and subcontracted sprinkler designs and submittals. Provide engineering oversight for installation projects, ensuring all systems meet quality and code requirements. Collaborate with customers, GCs, and AHJs to coordinate project requirements and resolve
technical issues.
Division Management
Oversee day-to-day operations of the Sprinkler Installation Division, including scheduling,
budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation.
Lead and mentor a team of project managers, designers, foremen, and field technicians. Manage installation timelines, change orders, and job costing. Ensure all installations meet project specifications, safety standards, and company quality
benchmarks.
Business Development & Strategy
Collaborate with sales and estimating teams on bids and proposals. Identify growth opportunities within the sprinkler market and develop strategic plans to expand services and client base. Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, general contractors, and vendors.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure full compliance with NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, and local codes. Support and enforce company safety policies and job site best practices. Conduct periodic site visits and quality audits to ensure installation integrity and safety.
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related
field.
Required: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Fire Protection. Required: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in fire sprinkler system design and installation. Required: Minimum 2-3 years of experience managing projects or field crews. NICET Level III or IV in Water-Based Systems (Preferred). In-depth knowledge of NFPA 13, 14, 20, and relevant building/fire codes. Proficiency with design software (AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Revit, or similar). Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
