Overview

This faculty profile is for non-tenure-track instructional Lecturer positions to complete short-term and/or part-time academic work, such as teaching one or more courses for one or two academic terms. The Department of Urban and Environmental Planning, School of Architecture at the University of Virginia seeks applications for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters. Responsibilities

Teach one or more courses in specialized subject areas, which may include Studio, Seminar, Lecture, Intensive Short Course, Visualization, and/or Workshop, for undergraduate and/or graduate courses. Organize guest lectures, provide course-specific advising, develop or review curricula, advise students on research papers, grade assignments, and organize and lead field trips. Qualifications

Master's Degree in a relevant field is required. A Ph.D. is preferred but not required. Strong commitment to teaching; preference for candidates with prior university-level teaching experience. Demonstrated professional and/or academic expertise in the specialized subject area, with evidence of teaching ability aligned to program learning outcomes. Compensation and Appointment

Compensation will be paid as wages on a bi-weekly pay cycle. This is an at-will faculty wage position and is not eligible for Expectation of Continued Employment (ECE) or employee benefits. Appointments are contingent upon available funding and/or course enrollment and carry no expectation of renewal. How to Apply
