Job Summary
We are seeking an
Advanced Practice Provider (APP)
for
Duke Orthopedics
at the
Duke Spine Center
in Durham, NC, as well as at
Duke University
and
Duke Regional Hospitals . The APP will provide direct patient care in collaboration with attending physicians, focusing on Spine Orthopedic and General Orthopedic care. The APP will augment physicians' ability to deliver medical services and may assist in the operating room at Duke University Hospital and Duke Regional Hospital, especially if certified as Nurse Practitioner-RNFA or Physician Assistant first assist. Primary hours are Monday through Friday with flexible scheduling to meet patient needs. Job Duties and Responsibilities Provide care for patients needing spine and general orthopedic care. Coordinate patient care, including triage, physical exams, data collection, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, laboratory testing, peri-operative workflow, diagnostic procedures, consultations, and medication management. Communicate all pertinent patient information to the supervising physician, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers. Document comprehensively in the electronic medical record, including test results, patient responses, and communications. Respond to patient inquiries via phone or EPIC MyChart, and consult with physicians as needed. Analyze clinical practice patterns to improve care quality and efficiency. Refer patients to other services as appropriate. Job Eligibility Requirements Education Nurse Practitioners: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master's degree in Nursing. Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program; Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred. Certification BLS required. License Nurse Practitioners: Current or compact RN licensure in NC; National certification as an NP required. Physician Assistants: Licensed in NC and certified by NCCPA; DEA license required.
