Has developed the required knowledge to produce quality diagnostic MRI exams in a safe and timely manner in conjunction with quality patient care. Responsibilities
Perform diagnostic MRI scans as directed by Radiologists. Apply correct scan protocols to optimize image quality while minimizing scan time and repeat procedures; position patients and select coils appropriately. Screen patients, families, and staff for contraindications and safety considerations (e.g., pregnancy, MRI safety). Adhere to all MRI safety standards and institutional policies. Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Troubleshoot and report malfunctioning equipment. Comply with all applicable regulatory standards (TJC, state, federal, local). Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Required Education:
Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college program, technical school, or nursing diploma Recommended Education:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university Required Work Experience:
Direct - 2 years of experience Recommended Work Experience:
Direct - Pediatric Required Certifications:
1 of the following license or registry Recommended Certifications:
ARRT MRI Specialist or ARMRIT MRI Technician Certification Notes
Knowledge of skills to perform diagnostic scans as directed by Radiologists. Developed knowledge to use correct scan protocols to optimize image quality while decreasing scan length and repeat procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of patient positioning and coil selection. Developed knowledge about and adheres to safety recommendations regarding MRI. Ensures work area is properly maintained. Ability to troubleshoot and report equipment malfunctions.
