Description
This position is responsible for providing direct patient care to patients of the Federally Qualified Health Center in Lincoln and may, at times, cover other health centers in emergent situations. This position may also assist in teaching activities related to all learner programs under the Department of Family and Community Medicine. Examples of Duties
Teaching (10%)
Teach and evaluate medical students, residents, physician assistants, and nurse practitioner students during their rotations. Role model health education, health promotion, and primary and secondary disease prevention as a nurse practitioner.
Service (90%)
Develop a collaborative clinical practice model with faculty and community medical specialists, focusing on responsibilities and referrals. Provide prevention and health maintenance care for patients with stable illnesses and perform physical examinations for healthy individuals and families. Maintain clinical competence through continuing education and professional conferences. Ensure continuity of care across the healthcare continuum for your panel. Participate in Center Peer Review and Quality Improvement activities. Provide emergency services as needed, including for patients without a primary care physician. Attend faculty meetings and resident conferences. Serve on center-wide and department committees. Engage in community outreach projects. Maintain licensure/certification and clinical competence.

Must be sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations. Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program. Passing score on the national certifying exam at the time of hire. Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Illinois at the time of hire.
