Overview

Senior Category Manager – Meat & Seafood (hybrid). 5+ years in Category Management with Meat/Seafood experience. Hybrid role: 3 days in Stillwater, MN in-office and 2 days remote. The role focuses on growth, profitability, and innovation through Category Business Plans (CBP) and cross-functional leadership. Responsibilities

Category Business Planning & Execution: develop and execute annual CBPs; set and monitor quarterly/annual sales and margin targets; use analytics (incl. Nielsen data) to assess trends and opportunities; design programs/products to differentiate the category; drive sales and profitability through pricing, promotions, and assortment; review category scorecards and align with goals. Pricing & Negotiations: develop category pricing strategies; collaborate with pricing team; oversee pricing for national vendor items and maintain a sensitive items list. Promotional Strategy: design and execute promotional calendars; negotiate national deals; maximize opportunities across banners; analyze promotional effectiveness. Assortment & Shelf Management: optimize assortment, manage introductions/discontinuations/markdowns; develop plan-o-grams; align with store clustering and regional demographics; build vendor relationships and manage vendor funding with legal collaboration; partner with procurement to support category strategies. Leadership & Collaboration: guide Category Managers and Analysts; coordinate and lead projects; work cross-functionally with merchandising, store ops, and strategic partners. Reporting & Analysis: prepare and present regular category performance reports and insights to senior management; monitor industry trends and competitive landscape; stay informed on opportunities. Other: perform duties as assigned and stay compliant with company policy and applicable laws. Qualifications

5+ years in Category Management with proven experience using category management tools (e.g., Specter Data, syndicated data sources, category management applications). Experience in store operations or merchandising preferred; strong understanding of P&L and financial management. Analytical skills with knowledge of supermarket retail, consumer behavior, and cause-effect levers across assortment, price, and volume/margins. Strong planning, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to influence and lead partnerships with banners; experience in vendor management. Skills & Abilities

Management: lead, motivate, and monitor performance; strong vendor and client management. Interpersonal: effectively collaborate across the company and matrix environment. Strategic & Innovation: think big-picture, develop category plans aligned with corporate strategy, champion new ideas. P&L Responsibility: familiarity with P&L statements and financial reporting. Work Environment & Logistics

Hybrid schedule: in-office days determined by manager; some travel may be required. Most work in a temperature-controlled office; use of standard office equipment; occasional stooping/bending may be required. Benefits & Location
