Overview The Demand Planner plays a critical role in ensuring PrimeSource Building Products maintains the right balance of inventory to meet customer demand. Reporting to the Director of Demand Planning, this position is responsible for creating and maintaining demand forecasts across assigned product lines and customers. The Demand Planner collaborates closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain to ensure forecasting accuracy, alignment with business goals, and optimal customer service levels.

This position is a key contributor to the monthly SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) process, supporting strategic decision-making and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Develop accurate, data-driven forecasts using statistical models, market intelligence, customer POS data, and historical trends.

Partner with Sales and Marketing to integrate customer demand drivers, sales programs, and promotional plans into the forecast.

Lead the consensus forecasting process in collaboration with Sales, Marketing, and Finance to deliver a unified operational forecast.

Collaborate with cross-functional partners—including Supply Planning, Procurement, and Finance—to ensure demand plans align with inventory and supply strategies.

Deliver unconstrained unit forecasts at the appropriate level of detail for use by Supply Chain teams.

Monitor product lifecycle changes, including new product introductions and end-of-life planning, to optimize inventory investment and service performance.

Work with Supply Planning to proactively identify potential supply risks and recommend corrective actions.

Maintain and improve demand planning systems and tools (e.g., SAP/IBP, Blue Yonder, Netstock, DemandWorks).

Prepare and publish regular forecast accuracy and performance reports for business leaders.

Support continuous improvement by analyzing forecast errors and implementing corrective measures to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Forecast Accuracy:

Achieve and maintain high levels of forecast accuracy to support inventory optimization and customer service.

Cross-Functional Alignment:

Build strong partnerships across Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain to enable effective collaboration.

Process Improvement:

Continuously refine tools, processes, and methodologies to improve forecasting precision and responsiveness.

Customer Service:

Contribute to high service levels by providing timely, accurate insights to inform replenishment and planning decisions.

Qualifications Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Statistics, or related field required.

3+ years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, inventory management, or supply chain.

Experience in wholesale distribution or building materials preferred.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated proficiency in forecasting and statistical methods.

Proven ability to perform root cause analysis and drive corrective actions to improve forecast accuracy.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to build strong relationships across departments.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Tableau or Power BI preferred.

Experience with planning systems such as SAP/IBP, SAP APO, Blue Yonder/JDA, DemandWorks, or SAP Business Objects preferred.
