Summary: We’re partnering with a large industrial facility in Upstate New York to find a seasoned Utility Operations Manager. This role leads a 24/7 utility operation that supports a diverse mix of commercial and institutional tenants. The manager will oversee staff, systems, and strategy to ensure reliable delivery of essential services across the campus. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in complex environments and understands the demands of continuous operations. Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all utility plant operations, ensuring consistent and reliable service delivery Supervise and develop plant staff across multiple shifts in a 24/7/365 setting Develop and execute operational strategies, budgets, and capital improvement plans Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for plant systems Drive energy efficiency initiatives and performance optimization Establish SOPs, training programs, and emergency response protocols Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) 7+ years of experience in utility plant, industrial facilities, or power generation; 3+ years in a leadership role Strong understanding of steam, chilled water, compressed air, and glycol systems Proven success managing capital projects, budgets, and teams in continuous operations Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards Experience in large campus, industrial, or utility district environments Willingness to respond to operational needs outside standard business hours Seniority level
