Overview
Senior Dams Engineer / Project Manager role at GEI Consultants, Inc. with a strategic focus on Upstate New York. This position aligns with GEI’s seller-doer model and involves securing, managing, and delivering complex water infrastructure projects, helping expand GEI’s market share in Upstate NY and neighboring states.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with existing practitioners on the strategy and vision to reinforce and expand the Upstate NY Dams Practice
Plan, coordinate, direct, and supervise design teams in the inspection, evaluation, and design of water infrastructure projects (dams, levees, spillways, outlet works, hydroelectric facilities, and related structures)
Provide technical input and oversight in civil, structural, geotechnical, water resources, hydrology and hydraulics, or mechanical disciplines
Resolve complex issues to benefit clients
Manage local, regional, and national projects
Identify, develop, pursue, and win opportunities with new and existing clients within New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, the East region, and nationwide
Direct project teams often representing multiple services and subconsultants
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering
15+ years of experience in design, project management, and construction of dams, levees, flood management systems, and/or hydropower projects
Registered professional civil engineer in New York
Understanding of regulatory and permitting environments in New York and surrounding states (NYDEC, PADEP, VTANR, USACE, FERC, etc.)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
Experience pursuing and winning opportunities for water clients in NY
Strong reputation in the NY market for dams, levees, flood control structures and/or hydropower services
Experience in water resource engineering with analysis and design on large civil works projects (dams, levees, flood walls, canals, penstocks, etc.)
Ability to supervise and direct junior staff

Pay Range for this position: $100,000.00 – $150,000.00/year
