The Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute at UCI Health is dedicated to transforming healthcare through rigorous research, evidence‑based clinical practice, education, and community engagement. The Institute houses the Integrative and Functional Medicine Fellowship, a premier two‑year postgraduate training program for physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Through a blend of advanced coursework, clinical immersion, and scholarly activity, the Fellowship equips health professionals to deliver whole‑person, personalized care grounded in integrative and functional medicine principles.
Your Role on the Team The Assistant Director of the Integrative and Functional Medicine Fellowship (IFMF), under the direction of the Founding Director, provides academic and programmatic leadership to ensure excellence in education, evaluation, and program growth. This individual plays a pivotal role in advancing the program's mission of training the next generation of physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in integrative and functional medicine.
The Assistant Director's responsibilities span program evaluation, outcomes research, and continuous improvement of curriculum content. They will design and implement systems for assessing fellow performance, track programmatic outcomes post‑graduation, and lead scholarship initiatives around the impact of integrative and functional medicine training. In collaboration with faculty, they will review and refine didactic content, assist with coordination of grand rounds, and support in‑person physician retreats.
In addition, the Assistant Director provides direct mentorship to Fellows through monthly small group meetings and quarterly Capstone project calls, fostering professional growth, academic development, and scholarly productivity.
This role requires a clinician‑educator with a deep commitment to integrative and functional medicine, exceptional organizational and leadership skills, and the ability to foster an environment of academic rigor and innovation.

For MD/DO candidates - Board Certification in Integrative Medicine.
Special Conditions
Hybrid role: must be onsite a minimum of 1 day/week, with attendance required for in‑person retreats and special events.
Occasional travel required for national conferences and fellowship‑related events.
