MATERIALS SUPERVISOR (B-SHIFT 7pm-7am Rotating) DUNCAN, SOUTH CAROLINA - DUNCAN PLANT
The Materials Supervisor is first line leadership providing support to self-directed work teams on the production floor. This position supports all materials functions by assisting plant employees with daily assignments, tasks, training, and work schedules to meet day-to-day expectations within a JIT automotive plant.
The Role Your work will include, but is not limited to:
Coordinates the shipping of 350,000 parts on a daily basis.
Coordinates with receiving to schedule truck arrivals and unloading in a timely manner.
Supervises the receiving department and the storage of raw materials throughout the plant.
Works with shipping to coordinate the sequence of trucks to customers.
Supervises materials warehouse staff and monitors inventory levels and processing procedures.
Provides recommendations based on customer scheduling regarding forecasting inventory, placing seats on hold, and filling gaps.
Supervises the distribution of materials throughout the plant to ensure deliveries meet plant needs.
Evaluates operations and activities of assigned responsibilities; recommends improvements and modifications; and prepares various reports.
Implements procedures for receipt, storage, and shipment of parts and commodities warehoused for the plant.
Builds and maintains positive working relationships with co-workers, other employees, and the public with good customer service principles.
Assists with cycle counting to maintain inventory accuracy.
Maintains company equipment and vehicles in good working condition.
Ensures uniform systems, procedures, and training to enhance productivity of all logistics functions.
Manages warehousing space to optimize storage and support operations.
Identifies potential slow-moving inventory for review and disposition.
Maintains adequate inventories to support operations while minimizing inventory investments.
Works with suppliers and production employees to eliminate waste and damage to raw materials.
Recommends improvements and modifications; prepares reports on operations and activities.
Participates in the selection of hourly staff and provides or coordinates training.
Your Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
Prior 2+ years of materials management experience.
Prior manufacturing experience.
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing effective distribution of goods.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination.
Ability to evaluate, develop and execute resolution plans when unexpected issues arise.
Ability to communicate with all levels within the organization.
Organized and able to prioritize based on fluctuation of needs.
Ability to set expectations and hold team members accountable across the role.
Ability to proactively assess daily and future conditions to minimize disruptions within the plant.
Willingness to work extended periods of time and varying shift hours.
Forklift Certification.
Bonus If You Have
Prior JIT experience in a Materials related role and AS400 experience.
Prior experience working in a seating assembly manufacturing environment.
