Pay Range: $130,000+ per year Industry: Masonry (Residential, Commercial, Industrial) Location: Ripon, CA Job Overview: DAVID HALL MASONRY, INC. is looking for an experienced and detail-driven Preconstruction Manager to lead our expanding Estimating Department. In this leadership role, you will oversee a team of 3-4 Estimators, guide the preparation of accurate and timely bid proposals, manage change orders, and ensure strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams. This role reports to the Company President and covers the full estimating lifecycle, from bid strategy and budget tracking to standardizing estimating procedures. You will contribute to winning new work and supporting project success by delivering well-coordinated, competitive estimates that reflect our craftsmanship and efficiency. Team Leadership & Development – Manage, coach, and develop a high-performing estimating team; review and evaluate junior estimators; manage department KPIs. Bid Management & Oversight – Evaluate bid invitations, assign projects, prepare and submit accurate proposals, revise estimates as needed, coordinate input from departments, subcontractors, and suppliers; ensure bid formats comply with client requirements and internal standards; maintain bid log and estimating database. Client & Stakeholder Communication – Act as primary contact for clients during proposals; maintain relationships and identify opportunities; participate in pre- and post-bid meetings and coordinate with leadership on strategic decisions. Process & Quality Control – Standardize estimating processes; conduct desk reviews to ensure proper documentation; track change orders and manage documentation in Procore; coordinate material submittals, procurement, and scheduling with Operations; support handoff to Project Management when projects are awarded. Cost Analysis & Optimization – Review quotations for alignment with cost expectations; analyze data for cost efficiencies; monitor economic trends and assess risk to inform estimating strategy. Additional Responsibilities – Assist with building permit submissions and promote company services to clients. Qualifications
Experience & Education – 5+ years of experience in construction estimating or a related leadership role; High School Diploma or GED required; additional coursework in construction management or business is a plus. Leadership & Team Management – Proven ability to mentor and develop estimating teams; strong multi-priority and deadline management in a fast-paced environment. Communication & Client Relations – Excellent written and verbal communication; client-focused with ability to present proposals and lead meetings. Analytical & Technical Expertise – Numerate with strong analytical skills; attention to detail in evaluating bid proposals and change orders; ability to manage supplier relationships and adapt to material lead times. Regulatory & Documentation Proficiency – Ability to read and apply technical documents, architectural plans, and regulations; capable of writing reports and procedural documentation. Software & Technology Skills – Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project; advanced experience with On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, Procore. Industry Knowledge – Knowledge of construction standards, cost estimating methodologies, and strong proposal development and presentation skills. Benefits
