This position is located at our manufacturing and test facility in Briggs, TX, north of Austin. SUMMARY Firefly Component and Sub-Assembly Technicians work closely with Fluid Systems Engineers to ensure that the build process follows instructions. This includes assembling valves, actuators, and other sub-assemblies. We encourage candidates of all experience levels to apply, from entry-level to highly experienced. Additional responsibilities include: Testing, functional verification, and troubleshooting of hydraulic and pneumatically actuated cryogenic valves, systems, and components. Assisting engineers in reviewing and developing design concepts, tooling, test hardware, and providing feedback for improvements. Hydrostatically and pneumatically proofing components. Reviewing, improving, and providing feedback on work instructions for complex mechanical systems and installations. Precision assembly of rocket engine components: combustion devices, valves, turbomachinery, and other sub-assemblies. Working safely with hazardous systems, chemicals, and high-pressure operations. Disassembling, repairing, and diagnosing components to identify root causes. Cleaning and passivating hardware using solvents, chemicals, ultrasonic, and precision cleaning methods. Performing shop-level maintenance and calibration of equipment such as pumps, tanks, filtration systems, and scales. QUALIFICATIONS Required: At least 1 year of experience (or equivalent) in aerospace, aircraft, R&D, or related industrial fields. Electronics/Avionics experience or familiarity with aerospace avionics systems (e.g., wiring, troubleshooting, integration). Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manuals. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment. Physical ability to climb ladders and stairs. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. for limited durations. Flexible schedule depending on operational needs, including nights, weekends, and overtime. Familiarity with tube fabrication (bending, flaring, fittings) and pressurized system safety. Knowledge of tube/fluid applications including GN2, GHe, hydraulics, and cryogenics. Understanding of fittings such as NPT and AN fittings. Experience cleaning systems to aerospace or medical standards. Prior experience with valve, actuator, and pump assembly.
