A required function of this position is to consistently provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. The position exists in the Facility Operations Department and is under the direction of the Chief Engineer II. A Training and Development (T&D) assignment may be considered. Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department is accepting applications for at least one (1) Permanent, Full Time Stationary Engineer. Applicants must possess knowledge of principles, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the engineering trade; current knowledge or relevant CalOSHA safety orders and California Building Standards Codes. ABILITY TO: Follow oral and written direction; demonstrate mechanical ability; keep accurate records; install, operate and make repairs to the various types of equipment listed above in the knowledge requirements; make written reports, read, interpret, and work from plans, drawings and specifications; lay out work for others and direct them in this work; analyze situations accurately and take effective action. Ability to bend; reach; ascent stairs, slopes, and inclines; work at heights applicable to trade demands; and labor in the outdoors in all weather conditions. KNOWLEDGE OF: Boilers and auxiliary boiler room equipment; heating, lighting, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, building electric and pneumatic controls, water treatment and other mechanical or electrical equipment; the methods, tools, materials, and equipment used in the operation, maintenance and repair of such equipment. TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY (SITE SPECIFIC) Demonstrates knowledge of correct method used in reading blueprints Knowledge of trouble shooting pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, electronic and refrigeration equipment Demonstrates knowledge of the appropriate use of operating a Steam Plant Performing water treatment, settings of chemical feed pumps Ordering chemicals, pump repair, reading instruments, firing of boilers Awareness of Injury, Illness, Prevention Program Read Material Safety Data Sheets, performs risk analysis before doing work Demonstrates knowledge of the use of tools used in water, sewer, plumbing & steam piping repair Possess: EPA Universal 608 Certification.
