The Advanced Composite Materials and Textile Research Lab (ACMTRL) at University Massachusetts Lowell is seeking a Post-doctoral Research Associate to assist in studies related to computational structural mechanics. This research position is available for an NSF-funded project focused on creating computational models of materials used for energy storage. Minimum Qualifications (Required):
Education:
An earned PhD in Mechanical Engineering Experience:
Knowledge of finite element modelling, with emphasis on cohesive zone models, homogenized techniques, user-defined material models, and Finite Element Method implementation through custom code. Experimental characterization of interfaces. Contributing to proposal writing. Industry collaboration. Supervision of the work of others. Skills:
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work as a team player. Quantitative research methods. Additional Considerations:
A record of publication. Experience with collaborative interdisciplinary research. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the subject discipline. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Skill in analyzing and evaluating data. The department is a dynamic environment; the position involves working to meet strict deadlines. Special Instructions to Applicants:
Only current UML Employees within the Grants & Contracts (MTA/GRACE) bargaining unit will be considered during the first 10 business days of the posting.
