Key Responsibilities
Due diligence and design of wind projects from development through operation.
Preliminary design of Balance of Plant (BOP) components – site civil, turbine foundation, collection, substation, generation‑tie.
Geotechnical investigations, micrositing, and routing of collection and substation systems.
Prepare inputs for permitting, RFPs, and contractor selection; manage bid comparison and award recommendations.
Negotiate BOP and tariff/term agreements, conduct BOP and switchyard design reviews, and vet change‑order requests.
Respond to RFIs, provide project execution oversight, and ensure safe, high‑quality, on‑budget and on‑time delivery.
Project Execution
Develop scopes of work and design standards; coordinate engineering consultants and review construction drawings.
Perform QA/QC inspections, punch‑list development, safety assessments, and hazard walks.
Review commissioning reports and analyze system performance; drive budgeting and key financial inputs.
Project Development
Project due diligence and engineering design review.
Equipment selection, procurement, and construction contract support.
Turbine supply agreement contract support.
Engineering Support & Growth
Design optimization to maximize reliability and reduce cost.
Troubleshoot existing systems, develop repair and remediation plans with O&M.
Improve processes for safe, quality, high‑performance projects; mentor and educate team.
Participate in AES’s growth planning through process improvement and strategic planning activities.
Primary Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field.
1–3 years professional experience in wind system design, development, construction, and analysis.
Experience with wind projects: MV collection system, substation, generation‑tie, interconnection switchyard, site civil, turbine foundation, geotechnical.
Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, GIS software, and Microsoft Excel.
Plus Qualifications
5+ years professional experience in wind systems or related energy projects.
2+ years experience with energy storage systems and/or PV system design and modeling.
Graduate degree in Engineering.
EIT or PE qualifications.
Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Matlab, ETAP, PSS/E, and other advanced modeling tools.
Substation/HV design experience.
OSHA 10‑hr or comparable job‑site safety certification.
Compensation & Benefits The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $91,500 and $109,650 per year. The total compensation package may also include an annual bonus, and access to medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time‑off benefits such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave). Details of participation in benefit plans will be provided upon offer.
