Responsibilities
Develop best practices to improve production capacity, quality and reliability.
Manage the implementation of continuous improvement processes for efficiency to create a Lean Manufacturing environment.
Investigate problems, analyze root causes and derive resolutions using the 8D Problem Solving Process.
Develop operational strategies to achieve production and financial objectives.
Assure product and process quality by designing complex testing methods; test finished product and process capabilities; establish standards; confirm manufacturing processes.
Participate in budget preparation and monitor expenses and profitability.
Write spec books and evaluate supplier quotations.
Design, document and implement medium to large‑scale manufacturing processes and determine feasibility of product changes.
Utilize system analysis of production methods/procedures and process automations for continued growth improvements.
Perform a variety of complicated tasks relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Evaluate current production activities and drive improvements.
Periodically ensure that highly technical equipment meets required specifications and high quality standards.
Implement cost reduction initiatives while maintaining high quality standards.
Contribute to product and process quality design testing methods.
Develop planning standards, methods, and procedures.
Plan workplaces considering ergonomics.
Stay current with product specifications, engineering technology and production processes.
Provide guidance to team members to accomplish production goals; mentor and give guidance to less senior manufacturing engineers for skill/knowledge base development. Motivate, develop, direct and influence team members at all levels and cultural backgrounds.
May act as deputy for Production Manager.
Propose and manage medium‑scale projects from beginning to end; may scope and manage large capital investment projects (> $5 M).
Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
Over 5 years of relevant experience required, strongly preferring automotive (Body in White, Paint, Assembly).
Hands‑on programming experience in a booth or work cell.
PLC experience (OMRON, Allen‑Bradley, Siemens).
Hands‑on experience in off‑line simulations.
3D‑CAD experience (Inventor, SolidWorks, Catia, Siemens NX, etc.).
Hands‑on experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and computer controlled systems.
Hands‑on experience with process devices (motor drives, sensors, AC/DC converters, encoders, lifts, conveyors, etc.).
