Avionics Cable Harness Design Engineer III - New Glenn Stage 2 (Fixed-Term)

Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight. This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle. The first stage is fully reusable and the vehicle is designed for human capability. As an Avionics Engineer, you will contribute to the New Glenn Rocket program by designing, developing, and qualifying avionics hardware to enable reliable and reusable spaceflight. You will work with a team of specialists, technicians, and engineers to plan, select, develop, source, and accept avionics hardware for next-generation launch vehicles. In a fast-paced environment, you will assist with the integration and support of new avionics hardware and collaborate with GNC, electrical, mechanical, software, systems engineering, configuration & data management, and assembly, integration & test teams to ensure hardware meets requirements. You will also troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues during production, integration, and post-flight phases.
Note: This position is a 12-15 month fixed-term position with full benefits.
Responsibilities Design electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication, and high-speed data signals
Select harness components and hardware, connectors, backshells, cables, and wires
Understand and apply EMI/RFI and harness shielding
Build 3D routed harness data files using Creo Cabling and Routed System Designer (RSD)
Create harness detail and installation drawings, including 2D flat harness drawings from 3D data
Design and integrate harness support brackets
Support design configuration development and trade studies
Provide technical guidance for hardware installation
Support assembly and testing of cables and harnesses
Maintain and report on activity schedule and technical status
Identify opportunities for improvements and cost/schedule savings
Minimum Qualifications B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical or an appropriate engineering field
7+ years of experience designing wire harnesses for the aerospace industry
Experience with Creo and Windchill and Routed System Designer (RSD)
Understanding and application of wire derating analysis
Familiar with IPC/WHMA-A-620A and NASA-STD-8739.4 harness standards
Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications Experience with Pro/E Piping
Experience with other high-end CAD routing software such as Unigraphics NX Electrical and Mechanical Routing
Knowledge of harness fabrication and installation processes
Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical/mechanical systems

Compensation
CO applicants: $116,323.00 – $162,851.85; WA applicants: $126,898.00 – $177,656.85; CA applicants: $126,898.00 – $177,656.85.
