Overview
The Senior Packaging Engineer, R&D Cold Beverage on the R&D Packaging Team will be responsible for the development, testing, and commercialization of new or existing packaging solutions for all cold beverage products at Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP). This role focuses on the KDP cold beverage portfolio and is responsible for packaging projects for primary, secondary and tertiary packages. It includes determining consumer-preferred design, performance requirements, setting quality standards, creating packaging specifications and coordinating activities with a range of business partners to ensure flawless execution of packaging projects. The role supports the development of new and existing material technology and packaging formats to deliver against KDP corporate packaging goals. Technical knowledge of PET bottle technology, flexible and paper packaging, and package development processes is required. Responsibilities
Support packaging development and commercialization of new materials and packaging systems to deliver brand pipeline and KDP sustainability goals Develop Packaging Briefs, collaborating with Brand & Innovation Marketing Develop bottle/flexible/paper packaging solutions (primary, secondary and tertiary) with packaging vendors, according to the KDP packaging development process, focused on value and unique consumer experience Responsible for all packaging duties from feasibility to launch phase Support technical timelines, raise issues and risks, and leverage strong packaging development skills Coordinate and conduct functional testing including lab testing, plant trials and packaging material qualifications in production facilities Develop cooperative working relationships with cross-functional teams Work with procurement and legal teams on contracts, IP and supplier agreements Provide procurement and supplier quality departments with advanced technical support, including vendor selection, capabilities assessment and material qualifications Our people are the heart of our business. Bachelor’s degree in packaging engineering or related engineering field 5+ years of Packaging Engineering experience Experience in PET, resins, fibers, flexibles, blow molded and compression molded packaging; materials/converting methods with both corrugated and plastic containers is a plus Excellent communication and presentation skills Experience producing technical documents (specifications, detailed drawings, structural drawings) Knowledge of manufacturing packaging equipment is a plus Experience multi-tasking, prioritizing and managing multiple projects Ability to travel up to 30% depending on project requirements Keurig Dr Pepper (NASDAQ: KDP) is a leading beverage company in North America, with a portfolio of more than 125 owned, licensed and partner brands and strong distribution capabilities.
