Overview CDM Smith has multiple openings for Senior Professional Electrical Engineers. Responsibilities

With high-level goals provided, design electric master system plans, power systems, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability/renewable energy systems, and other electrical systems of varying complexity to meet project requirements.

Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and sign off on completed designs.

Perform studies of power systems and electrical calculations, lighting simulations and layouts, and related calculations (including communications, fire alarm, security). Ensure adherence to firm policies and practices.

Conduct site reviews to ensure designs align with location specifications and update requirements as needed.

Contribute to the firm’s technical knowledge management by developing white papers and technical design documentation; submit designs for publishing where appropriate.

Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to client RFPs; review proposals for compliance with regulations and best practices; meet with clients to review design needs.

Attend conferences and symposia to increase visibility of the firm’s products and services with sales staff.

Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff; mentor and potentially supervise engineering work on projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or Electrical Technology or related discipline. Professional Engineer (PE) license.

10 years of related experience.

Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Domestic and/or international travel may be required; frequency dependent on duties and project demands.

Certification/License Requirements

Professional Engineer (PE)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing power systems for water, wastewater, industrial, federal, and transit facilities.

Experience designing medium and low-voltage power distribution systems.

Familiar with industry and federal codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, NESC, IEEE, UFC, etc.).

Experience conducting power system analysis using software such as SKM Power Tools for Windows and ETAP.

Skills And Abilities

Expert knowledge of CAD/CAM and 3D/4D software and practices.

Strong engineering design principles and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.

Compensation

Pay Range Minimum: $114,150

Pay Range Maximum: $199,742
