As a Sr Advanced Systems Engineer at Honeywell, you will be involved in all aspects of the Global Repair & Overhaul Engineering group’s process of creating electrical engineering solutions to sustain and grow Honeywell’s Avionics Repair & Overhaul business.
You will report directly to our Engineering Manager, and you’ll work out of our Aguadilla, Puerto Rico location. This position begins with 90 days onsite before transitioning to a hybrid schedule.
This Global Repair & Overhaul Engineering (GROE) position is responsible for creating electrical engineering solutions to sustain and grow Honeywell’s Avionics Repair & Overhaul (R&O) business through cost reduction and repair capability expansion. This position is located at the Honeywell Olathe Service Center within the Americas Service Center (ASC) network of the Honeywell Aerospace Integrated Supply Chain (ISC).
Key Responsibilities
Use advanced avionics knowledge and engineering discipline to complete engineering tasks
Introduce and lead creative and innovative solutions for test capacity and test time reduction to enable productivity
Work with global teams and develop action plans to drive all value engineering projects
Able to develop and modify test software and possible automations to reduce manual testing and improve labor efficiencies. (Functions by ETS)
Identify opportunities for repair cost reduction and manage projects from solution development through deployment
Lead effort between avionics product design engineering, test design engineering, and service center staff to resolve issues with product modification, upgrades, investigations, and repair of test equipment
Lead cross-functional teams through the Corrective Action Request (CAR) process and negotiate solutions to prevent defects from being introduced into product repair processes
Communicate directly with internal and external customers and suppliers about status on resolutions for problems such as repair delivery disruptions, no-fault-found situations, warranty review, and first-year-in-service failures
Convince internal customers to fund capital purchases by using quantified business impacts such as ROI, payback period, and NPV
Travel, up to 50% can be expected.

Qualifications YOU MUST HAVE:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics
10 years working in the avionics or electronics industry or equivalent experience
Ability to write, read and speak English

Knowledge of avionics & engine controller products and systems such as, electromechanical instruments, flight controls, weather radar, Cabin Pressure controllers, Predator modules, thermal management units, Sensors (Pressure and Temp), VCC (Vapor Cycle Controller System), ELCU (Electrical Load Control Unit), PTMSC (Power Thermal Management System Controller)
Understanding of FAR 21 (OEM) and FAR 145 (repair) regulation concepts
Familiarity with guidelines DO-178, DO-254 and DO-160
Understanding of product and test system configuration management
Ability to learn and comply with import and export regulations (EAR and ITAR)
Familiar with SAP system
Knowledge of LEAN, JIT, Kaizen, and SIX SIGMA methodology
