GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is dedicated to delivering a safe, high-quality, and efficient transportation system across Wyoming. We are seeking a qualified Engineer II to join our team in Cheyenne. This full-time role involves working on highway projects from design through construction and completion under the guidance of the Resident Engineer.
Key Responsibilities: Perform engineering tasks related to highway projects in all phases, including design, construction, and management. Collaborate with the Resident Engineer and team to ensure project success. Assist in preparing and reviewing plans, specifications, and contracts. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following are illustrative and not exhaustive:
Issue, review, and revise plan sets. Review and approve project submittals and permits. Update forms and documentation for construction activities. Inspect projects for compliance with plans, specs, and budgets. Provide engineering recommendations and conduct research. Guide and oversee technical staff and contractors. Perform field inspections, testing, and quality control. Develop models, conduct studies, and prepare reports. Verify data and resolve geometric and technical problems. Conduct surveys and verify project drawings. Train personnel and coordinate with stakeholders. Manage construction projects, ensuring quality and documentation.
PREFERENCES/REQUIREMENTS: Must obtain certifications/licenses such as valid driver’s license, QC/QA certifications in soils, asphalt, and concrete, and WYDOT-specific certifications.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Includes engineering principles, surveying, construction methods, computer skills, and communication skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's in Engineering, 0-3 years of experience, and an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Fundamentals in Engineering (FE) license are required.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:
Ability to work outdoors, operate equipment, and lift up to 50 pounds.
