As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will act as the Owner’s Representative for capital project execution, ensuring effective collaboration and communication with engineering contractors during the FEED/FEL-3 process. You will coordinate and lead meetings with subject matter experts, site personnel, and contractors, while also conducting bid walks and responding to requests for information promptly. Your role will encompass supporting project management through all phases, advocating for safety, preparing bid packages, and managing construction contractors. Responsibilities
Act as Owner’s Representative for capital project execution. Liaise with engineering contractors during the FEED/FEL-3 process for ISBL and OSBL equipment. Review approval drawings and provide feedback. Coordinate and lead meetings with SMEs, site personnel, and engineering contractors. Conduct bid walks with contractors in the field for budgetary and firm proposals. Respond to RFIs in a timely manner. Support project management through all phases, including scope development, risk assessments, budgeting, engineering/design, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and project closure. Participate in safety audits and contractor safety meetings. Prepare bid packages and RFQs for materials, equipment, and services. Evaluate bids to select the lowest-cost vendor. Manage construction contractors for electrical & instrumentation field work. Coordinate with construction teams for project activities. Interface with site and company personnel to optimize resources. Review electrical & instrumentation engineering deliverables. Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering. At least 5 years of project engineering experience, ideally in chemical, heavy industry, or design engineering firms. Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems such as load lists, power/grounding/lighting design, transformers, switchgears, MCCs. Basic understanding of industrial safety, health, and environmental practices. Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in oil, petrochemical, or chemical facilities. Background in operations, maintenance, construction, or HSE. Experience in industrial facilities (chemical, petrochemical, heavy manufacturing). Knowledge of SAP software is a plus. Familiarity with project management and control processes. Work Environment
This onsite role is based in Colonial Heights, VA, involving work in large modular structures, both indoors and outdoors, with occasional travel. The environment encourages collaboration, autonomy, and leadership. Pay and Benefits
The pay range is $46.00 - $52.00/hr. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, disability, HSA, transportation benefits, employee assistance, and leave options. Eligibility depends on employment status and tenure. Workplace Type
