Under the direction of the Electrical Engineering Director, the Senior Technical Specialist – Electrical Engineering will execute new product development projects that encompass the integration and installation of state-of-the-art electrical systems on Blue Bird buses. This includes component, software and system specifications, design verification, and troubleshooting support. Assist in developing road technology maps for bus safety systems, driver cockpit, and other control ECUs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage a multitude of projects and strive for on-time engineering sign-off Develop electrical systems and component specifications Complete programming development and validation for vehicle control ECU software Assess project requirements such as technical challenges, engineering hours, risk assessment Ensure designs meet FMVSS, state, and customer requirements Produce and implement designs, drawings, and test documentation Review/approve electrical designs and release documents Control project and testing costs by focusing on cost reductions Communicate with cross-functional teams and outside vendors (Manufacturing, Purchasing, Management) Write engineering reports and complete various documentation Analyze and interpret engineering test data Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must possess strong technical expertise and the ability to manage people and projects to completion Experience with electrical integration areas including: Electric Vehicles CAN Bus / J1939 data links / Multiplexing / Vehicle Electronic Programming Stations (VEPS) Instrument Clusters Collision Avoidance Systems Automotive Feature Integration LV Automotive Wiring / Harnesses design HV Automotive Wiring / Harnesses design DFMEA, DVP&R, problem solving methodologies and other essential engineering processes Simulink model-based system design CAD/CAM modelling software (CATIA V6 or equivalent) Low Voltage Power Distribution Architecture High Voltage Power Distribution Architecture Bachelor’s Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Electronics/Communications Engineering from an accredited university, required 6+ years’ experience in Electrical Engineering design Preferred Experience
6+ years’ experience in relevant automotive or truck design and manufacturing environment, preferred What We Value
