Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated
Sr. Controls Engineer
to oversee the design, development, and optimization of control systems across our North American Engineered Products manufacturing operations. This role combines hands-on engineering with leadership responsibilities, guiding plant teams of controls engineers and collaborating with cross-functional departments to drive automation excellence and continuous improvement. Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of advanced control systems for manufacturing equipment and processes. Provide oversight and mentorship for Plant teams of controls engineers/technicians, providing technical guidance and performance feedback. Architect scalable automation solutions using PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and industrial networking technologies. Identify and lead individual improvement projects Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for controls-related initiatives. Ensure system reliability, safety, and compliance with industry standards and regulations. Collaborate with multiple site operations, maintenance, and IT teams to integrate control systems with MES and ERP platforms. Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and recommending strategic upgrades. Direct the development and maintenance of comprehensive documentation, including system architecture, programming standards, and troubleshooting guides. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering with Control Systems Engineering experience 5+ years of experience in control systems engineering in a continuous manufacturing environment. Expertise in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell Automation, Siemens), HMI/SCADA development, and industrial communication protocols. Demonstrated leadership in managing large-scale capital projects from concept through execution to include leading cross-functional engineering projects. Strong understanding of control theory, system integration, and safety systems (e.g., SIL, NFPA 79). Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or Professional Engineer (PE) license. Experience with robotics, motion control, and vision systems. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Industry 4.0 principles. Certifications such as PMP, CCST, or ISA Certified Automation Professional. 20-30% travel for project implementation and vendor coordination.
